Adam Lambert Surprised by Audiences on Glam Nation Tour
Adam Lambert's been on the road for quite some time with his Glam Nation tour, and he says one of the most surprising things he's found about his first headlining tour is how many different kinds of people are coming to see him. Adam says that initially, his fan base during and immediately after American Idol were "mostly women from forty to sixty" whose relationship to him he describes as "almost maternal." But now that he's an established recording artist with some hits under his belt, Adam has managed to expand his audience to cut across many different demographics. He says, "At the shows, I've really been surprised to see teenagers, both male and female. I've seen husbands, grandpas. I've seen a broader cross-section of different ethnicities. It's really exciting."
Adam's 75-minute Glam Nation extravaganza features over-the-top costumes, lasers and a light show, dancers, a backing band, and even a stripped-down acoustic set in the middle. But the show is heavily scripted and choreographed, and features mostly the same songs each night. So how does Adam keep from getting tired of the same old, same old? It's that diverse audience. Says Adam, "The vibe in the audience is different every night. It's a different crowd. It reflects the community and I...look at the people. I wanna see who's there, I find that very interesting. It definitely creates a little bit more novelty for a show that starts becoming a routine."
The Glam Nation tour is set to wrap up September 21st in Washington state. Adam has hinted that he may start working on a new album before the year is out.
